Why We Love Wordle.

Words, thinking, and bonding, oh my!

Be honest, after you finish the day’s Wordle, how much are you looking forward to tomorrow’s puzzle?

Okay, I’ll go first; I do. Maybe it’s being a writer; I love words. I love putting them together and creating magic and sometimes a magical world. (There’s a Worldle too, by the way, where you guess countries.)

Words are how we communicate; we think in words, write words, and make stories, lives, and proposals.

There’s more to this than just words, though. Not everyone is a writer or fan of the intricacies of the English language. So what is it? What is it about this game that has captured the world?

Come together right now over words.

1. Bonding time. Psychologist, Matt Baldwin, states the ability to bond with your peers makes Wordle appealing. We like fitting in and showing others that we are just like them. Also, we are sharing experiences when many of us feel disconnected from one another.
2. Get that brain going. Some people enjoy puzzles like Wordle due to their need for cognitive activity, states Penny Pexman of The Conversation. (See my article on our true crime obsession also). We like the ability to use our brains for something more in-depth than just the mundane undertakings we experience daily.
